Laura Numeroff does it agian!
I'm not sure if my 2 1/2 year old or I liked this fun book the best. This is a rhyming book (hence the title) with a fun story line. Nice cadence and nifty pictures. Got it from the library, thrilled to find it in paperback.

Two of the Missing: A Reminiscence of Some Friends in the War
Published in Hardcover by Putnam Pub Group (February, 1975)
Author: Perry Deane Young
Average review score:

Perry Deane Young honors the memory of two colleagues
Perry Deane Young tells the story of two colleagues, Dana Stone and Sean Flynn, who were captured by Vietnamese forces inside Cambodia on April 6, 1970. Several groups of journalists of various nationalties were captured in this same area during the same week Sean and Dana disappeared. Not one of these missing men has ever been "fully accounted-for", though reports relating to them still frequently emerge from surviving eye-witnesses of the chaos on the battlefields of Cambodia. Richard Linnett's "The Eagle Mutiny" explains how difficult it can be to sort out these reports of Americans held prisoner in Cambodia. Two more of Young's colleagues, Tim Page and Zalin Grant, are still actively seeking the true fate of Flynn and Stone. The author and Walter Cronkite appear in Tim Page's documentary film about the case, entitled "Danger at the Edge of Town". The answers most likely lie untouched in the musty archives of an uncooperative Peoples Army of Vietnam, too late for Dana's wife Louise, who died several years ago never having received the answers she longed for, buried alone, without Dana at her side. Louise deserved more. The Vietnamese government can do better, and so can ours. Readers of this story will be left with the hope that "You Are Not Forgotten" is not just a slogan on a flag flown at the post office, but a heartfelt pledge by a government and a people. What is clear is that Perry Deane Young saw his duty to write the story years ago. An unforgettable read!

The Untold Story of Frankie Silver: Was She Unjustly Hanged?
Published in Paperback by Down Home Pr (June, 1998)
Author: Perry Deane Young
Average review score:

Seperating fact from fiction of an old legend
As a direct descendant of Frankie Silver (She was my G-G-Grandmother) I have heard the story all my life, but learned many new facts about the case. I found a few dates to be incorrect, and many names omitted, but this does not detract from the essence of the story. A thoruoghly researched book that debunks many of the myths surrounding the hanging of Frankie Silver. Good reading for history buffs and a MUST for family members.

Why Jesus Is Good News - The Gospel of Mark and the Coming of God
Published in Paperback by Essence Publishing (April, 2002)
Author: David Perry
Average review score:

Back Cover
The God of the Bible is a God on the move. He "comes down" to rescue Israel from Egypt. He "goes before" His people in the wilderness. And He "comes" to the exiles in Babylon, to restore them to their land-and to Himself. David Perry argues that the coming of God is the backdrop to the book of Mark. Mark begins his gospel with Isaiah's announcement of God coming to restore His people: "Prepare the way of the Lord." Then, throughout his narrative, Mark opens scene after scene with the coming of Jesus: Jesus comes to the Jordan, He enters a house, He comes to Jerusalem, He enters the temple. These "arrival references," the author contends, are more than incidental details. They are the key to the story, highlighting Jesus' arrivals as the unfolding fulfillment of God's arrival. And like God coming to the exiles, Jesus comes to restore: He heals the sick, He teaches righteousness, He cleanses the temple, He dies for sinners, and He rises again. He is the coming of God for the restoration of His people-and all peoples. And that is why He is good news.

"Informed, entertaining, and encouraging. Full of thoughtful reflections and earthy anecdotes. This book will give you food for thought and inspiration for worship."
Aled Griffith, Principal
King's Bible College

"Scholarly and yet easy to read. It speaks to the heart and to the intellect. I highly commend it!"
Barney Coombs, President
Salt & Light Ministries

"The gospel of Mark is pithy and immediate-and so are David Perry's meditations on it. They are scholarly, clear, and devotional all at once-a rare combination."
Steven Thomas, Senior Pastor
Oxford Community Church
Oxford England

David Perry is a graduate of Beloit College and Providence Theological Seminary. He is a teaching elder at Gateway Christian Community and academic dean of The King's Commission Ministry Training Institute. He lives with his wife Velma in Winnipeg, Canada. The Wise Inheritor

Average review score:

This is a great book!
This book was wonderful. My father died 10 months ago and I just read this book. I wish I had found it earlier. The subjects discussed in this book are hard to share with others. Finally I realized there were others out there that felt as I have. I am going to be purchasing copies of this book to give to my attourney, the funeral director and my appraisor. My hope is that they will give them away to someone who is just starting to go through this processes. If you are an inheritor you need this book! It is also good for anyone to know information about estate planning.
